Together they have 4 children, 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. They bought their first computer in 1982, have crossed the Nullabor (through the middle of Australia) ten times. Travelled the world and come close to tragedy many times including living through war and flying out of Darwin on Christmas Eve before Cyclone Tracey ripped through on Christmas Day 1974. He was a fitter and turner, she was a bookkeeper and together they have shared 60 years of marriage! 

On Thursday 9^th Feb, we celebrated my Grandparent’s milestone! They received a congratulatory letter from the Queen herself among many other politicians and highly esteemed people. We made speeches and toasted their achievement. In my Granddad’s speech, through teary eyes he said something that will stay with me forever, “You have seen that it can be done.”. That is the legacy that my Grandparents will leave. They put family first, they stuck together through everything life threw at them and they’re still happy and very much in love! In today’s society where marriages can begin and end in the same month, I can only hope to follow the footsteps of my two amazing Grandparents.
